RDW's poems

Self-Development

When I think of my own self-development
I remember the Glass Menagerie
Tennessee Williams
and the gentleman caller
who takes the gum from his mouth
and wraps it in paper
and says why he wraps it in paper
and says why he goes to evening class

Kirk Douglas with the single dimple
and the wide piano-key smile
All aspiration   All our aspirations
And Jane Wyman, who listens,
who is pleased to listen, but does not aspire

Now, we have Michael Douglas, and Sharon Stone
