RDW's poems

Eye Contact

The woman who read the Molly Bloom soliloquy
in the main hall of the Dublin City Library
on the Bloomsday Centenary
was a small white-haired lady who read from Braille

Tiny, back straight, head straight, white antique dress
saying those lush lush words
and drew him down to me so he could feel my breasts all perfume yes
running her hands over the words

Running her tongue over the words
continuously like the text yes
head straight up straight ahead looking at us
continuous yes because she could do that

Do what looked like looking at us
holding us elaborately in her hands
